Virginia is officially part of the IMpact! On March 21, 2025, Governor Glenn Youngkin signed the Interstate Massage Compact into law, making the Commonwealth the 4th state to adopt this groundbreaking multistate licensing pathway. The legislation was sponsored by Patron Jackie Hope Glass, whose leadership helped move the bill forward with strong bipartisan support.

With Virginia’s adoption, licensed massage therapists in the Commonwealth are one step closer to enhanced license mobility and the ability to practice across participating states without repeated, costly, or time-consuming relicensure processes. The IMpact strengthens opportunities for therapists, supports businesses and spas, and expands access to massage therapy services for the public.

Virginia’s commitment adds meaningful momentum to the national movement toward multistate licensure in massage therapy. The compact will become active once seven states have enacted it.For more information, visit massagecompact.org or email info@massagecompact.org.
